Game Gremlins is a free high school game development training program designed to turn a student interested in games into a published game developer before finishing high school.

Level Up

Game Gremlins is split into multiple levels that students progress through over multiple years.

  • Level 1 - Students learn to analyze and create their first games, culminating in a final project

  • Level 2 - Students complete a full development cycle, culminating in publishing their game

  • Level 3 - Students work as advisors to the other levels and gain opportunities to intern with game development professionals

Apply for Level 1

  • All grades 9 -12 can apply

  • Game Gremlins is completely free

  • Application takes 5 minutes

Interview

  • In place of a traditional process, applicants only need a 10 minute interview to determine their fit for the program

  • School year: Saturdays, 10am - 2pm @ BPL Central Library

  • Events: Occasional bonding activities and professional events - including game nights, escape rooms, and game conferences.

Ascend Through Levels

  • Game Gremlins continues with Level 2 and Level 3 after your first year

  • Each level has new opportunities including game publishing and paid internships

  • Students are expected to remain in the program until they finish High School

  • Use projects in portfolios for college applications

  • Get a job in the game industry with connections from internships or showcases

  • Continue making games as a hobby

More than games

Even though games are the focus of the program, Game Gremlins education has a large focus on critical thinking, design process, and communication. We use games to create engaging lesson material, and projects, and to expose students to an industry ready for new demographics and talent.
